4th of July Parade, 2024
Tracy Bike Life Youth Program was thrilled to march alongside Elvis in this year's 4th of July parade! A special shout-out to Stephen B. for winning our "Big Ripper" bike raffle. Stephen, we hope you and your daughter enjoy riding together soon!
A big thank you to everyone who generously supported Tracy Bike Life Youth Program with their donations.
Over the last year, the Tracy Bike Life Youth Program has continued to grow with donations and support from the community, local businesses, and our partners. We're always happy to accept donations of used bicycles, so contact Dotty dotty@tracyearthproject.com before you throw out that old bike!
We have had 10 cohorts with over 60 kids graduated already! New sessions begin every 6-8 weeks, so keep checking the website for updates. You can register your child from the "Enroll Today!" tab.
Last week, we celebrated the graduation of our second cohort of students! Our third cohort is already full, so if you didn't get a chance to register this time around, check back again around mid-August.
This program has been educational and fun for everyone involved, students and instructors alike! The only downside is that we have to say no to some youth because we only have 3 volunteer instructors and only have the capacity for 12 youth at a time. Please contact Melinda if you would like to volunteer. Even if you can only spare a couple of hours a month, it will be impactful and greatly appreciated.
Our first Cohort of students graduated in May 2022! We had a graduation ceremony with food, friends, family, cupcakes, and certificates. The Tracy Chief of Police came to congratulate all the graduates personally. We are so proud of everyone for making this program possible. The students, the instructors, and the whole community have contributed to the success of this important new activity.
Our second Cohort will start on May 17, 2022. So hurry and register before all the spots are filled. (They fill up quickly!) Just click on the Enroll Today! tab, or contact Melinda by text, call, or email: mramirez@tracybikelife.org (209) 346-4851
At the end of April 2022, we will be celebrating our first Cohort's graduation from the program! We had 29 kids participate over the past two months. They learned important S.T.E.M. concepts involved with bicycle mechanics. They learned about bike safety. They had fun on Saturday group bike rides. They made new friends and earned their own bicycles that they fixed themselves!
Our next Cohort will begin in May 2022, so be sure to register and save your spot because they fill up quickly. Keep an eye out for pictures of the Bike Rodeo that Tracy Bike Life had during Tracy Earth Day on Sat. April 23, 2022. We gave out lots of free bike helmets and had fun activities for the whole community!
The Tracy Bike Life Youth Program’s first group of students is learning so much and having a great time. During March 2022, the kids learned practical skills like how to fix flat tires and replace brake cables and gears.
They also learned about bike safety and traffic laws, and they were introduced to S.T.E.M. concepts like air pressure, torque and tension. Most importantly, they had fun with friends in a safe and enriching environment!
Our Ribbon Cutting event last weekend was a huge success! We had about 100 people attend. We served BBQ and got to showcase our new program. The event led to more kids enrolling in the program. In fact, our first cohort is now full! We will open up the application again for our next cohort beginning in May 2022.
In addition to the Tracy Bike Life group and our neighbors, we also had many dignitaries there supporting our work. The Mayor of Tracy and all of the Tracy City Council Members came and presented us with a certificate. County Supervisor Rickman's office also presented us with a certificate. Tom Gerber and others from the Housing Authority were there. Many other businesses and nonprofits came to share in the celebration. It was a great day for everyone!
